In the world of cryptocurrency, Ethereum's price movements have always been a subject of intense scrutiny. Recent developments indicate that while Ethereum has failed to break the $3,000 resistance zone, it is still showing signs of strength and could potentially embark on an upward trajectory.

Ethereum Price Fails to Break $3,000—Is the Uptrend in Danger?

Ethereum price failed to clear the $3,000 resistance zone and is consolidating NEAR $2,750. It is still showing positive signs above the $2,680 zone and trading above $2,750 and the 100-hourly Simple Moving Average. A short-term bullish trend line is forming with support at $2,780. The price could start a decent upward move if it settles above $2,850 and $2,880. Recently, Ethereum gained pace above $2,750 and $2,850 resistance levels, spiking towards $3,000 before correcting gains.

Ethereum Foundation Launches Open Intents Framework for Cross-Chain Interoperability

The Ethereum Foundation has announced the Open Intents Framework (OIF), a modular and open framework designed to improve interoperability across the Ethereum ecosystem. Developed with the collaboration of over 30 teams, including Layer 2 networks, wallets, and infrastructure providers, OIF aims to streamline cross-chain transactions by making it easier for users to send assets across different chains seamlessly. Central to this initiative is “Intents,” which allow users to specify desired outcomes without handling complex transaction details.

Ethereum Developer Opposes Blockchain Rollback Idea Amid Bybit Hack

Ethereum Foundation lead developer Tim Beiko has dismissed the idea of an Ethereum blockchain rollback following the Bybit crypto exchange hack. Beiko explained in a detailed post why such a proposal is impractical and unfeasible, stating that the Ethereum network is too interconnected for a rollback. On February 21, Dubai-based exchange Bybit suffered the largest crypto hack in history, with bad actors stealing $1.4 billion in mantle-staked ETH (mETH) and other ERC-20 tokens by compromising one of the exchange’s cold wallets.

Arbitrum’s ETH Investment Proposal Faces Backlash

Some delegates within Arbitrum’s decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) have expressed strong opposition to a proposal by its Growth Management Committee (GMC) to use 7,500 ETH from the treasury to back three decentralized finance (DeFi) projects not built on Arbitrum. The GMC plans to invest 5,000 ETH into Lido, generating 5,000 wstETH tokens, and utilize these in Aave V3 on Arbitrum. The remaining 2,500 ETH will be used for Fluid’s Arbitrum lending protocol.

Ethereum Bounces Back After Bybit Hack

Ethereum prices displayed resilience over the weekend, rapidly bouncing back from a slump following the massive hack of the Bybit crypto exchange. The asset slumped 7% in a matter of hours on Feb. 21, falling from $2,832 to $2,629. However, ETH tapped $2,800 in late trading on Feb. 23, following a recovery. On Feb. 24, Bybit reported receiving around 446,870 ETH worth around $1.23 billion through loans, whale deposits, and ETH purchases since the hack. Bybit's co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou stated that the firm has 'already fully closed the ETH gap' and that a new audited proof-of-reserves report will be published soon.

Bybit Restores Ethereum Reserves After Historic Hack

Bybit CEO Ben Zhou announced on February 24 that the exchange has restored its Ethereum reserves. The exchange suffered a $1.5 billion hack allegedly perpetrated by North Korea’s Lazarus Group, targeting its multisig cold wallet system. Hackers exploited a vulnerability to siphon 401,346 ETH from the exchange’s hot wallet. Despite the breach causing Bybit’s total reserves to plummet by $5.2 billion, the exchange secured emergency funding and deposits and withdrawals returned to normal levels shortly after. Zhou has now confirmed that Bybit has restored its ETH reserves to a full 1:1 backing.
